What is the Student Impact Fund?
The Student Impact Fund is an annual $250,000 fund to help students across Canada turn their great ideas into real impact on their campuses. Alumo supports student-led initiatives that strengthen campus life and well-being.
Who is Alumo?
Alumo is Canada's leading provider of student benefits and wellness solutions. We partner with student unions and post-secondary institutions to offer Health & Dental Plans and other wellness services like mental health support, virtual health care, and legal assistance to students.

Who can submit?
Any student enrolled at an eligible partner school may apply with campus sign-off. Before you submit, make sure you have approval from your school or student association.

What types of projects are eligible?
Eligible projects must be student-led, inclusive, and aligned with community well-being.
Here are some examples to inspire you:

→ community-building events
→ skill-building events
→ sustainability projects
→ anything else you think would benefit your student community.
When can I submit my project?
You can submit your project only during the submission period. Submissions are open twice a year: once in the fall and once in the spring.

Who can submit a project?
Any student enrolled at a partner school may submit a project, with the approval of the school or student association.

What types of projects are eligible?
Projects must be initiated by students, inclusive, non-commercial, and aligned with the well-being of the community.

What types of documents do I need to submit with my project?
To be considered, your project must include:
- Project overview
- Budget
- Team members
- Action plan
- Partner Sign-off Form.
What should I expect after I submit my project?
After the submission deadline, all eligible projects will be reviewed by a committee of student executives. Once the review process is complete, the Student Impact Fund team will notify you of the outcome of your application and any funding awarded.
What else should I keep in mind?
When evaluating applications, the Student Impact Fund primarily considers:
- A realistic budget proposal in terms of the objectives;
- Student involvement in the project and its expected impact on the student body;
- The originality of the approach and action plan;
- The team’s experience in their field and the support garnered from their community.
Keeping these factors in mind when preparing your application can help strengthen your proposal.
What is the maximum amount I can receive for my project?
Funding amounts vary depending on the nature and scope of each project. While applicants may request a specific amount, the Alumo Student Impact Fund reserves the right to award funding at a different level based on the committee’s evaluation.
To support a broad range of initiatives and maximize the impact of the fund, the following funding limits apply:
- New projects: up to $5,000
- Recurring projects: up to $3,000*
*Recurring projects that include a significant new or innovative component compared with previous years may be eligible for funding of up to $5,000.
How do winning projects get selected?
Each project is carefully evaluated by a group of student leaders among our partner schools. The Selection Committee ensures grants are awarded to support student-driven initiatives and encourage academic, extracurricular, and social involvement in Canada.
